Fundraising event for the East Coast

This Sunday, 2^nd April,  there is a chance for anyone 18 and over to attend a fantastic gig at the San Fran. Nikita Tu-Bryant was one of the original Rātā tutors when we started 10 years ago and she has put together a fantastic line up to raise funds for those on the East Coast who have been affected by the Cyclone Gabrielle.

Here is what Nikita has to say and how you can get tickets.

“For those of you that have enjoyed my poetry, my music, and other forms of storytelling: a lot of it has been the influence of my visits to the East Coast of our motu. The East Coast is very close to my heart – the whenua, the people and the spirit. After the devastation of Cyclone Gabrielle, it took me a while to be able to transmute the pain I felt for the region into some positive action.

This is why I have teamed up with an amazing collective to pour our hearts into a relief fundraiser this Sunday, 4pm-11pm at San Fran. Everyone on the bill including crew are giving their time and talents to fundraise as much as we can to awhi the ongoing relief needed on the East Coast. We • KITA • don’t play Pōneke very often, we haven’t actually played since June last year (!) – we really hope you can come out and enjoy some epic music this Sunday and bring your energy and donation, to join us in support of the East Coast. I understand a few people have been hesitant to donate, unsure of where to donate to, “is my donation going where it’s needed?”

I had a wee kōrero today on RNZ Music to shed light on where and how, we are directing the funds. We have a tiered ticketing system should you wish to donate more at Moshtix.

We would prefer if you bought your ticket prior to the show, however we will have a tiered ticketing system on the door too, subject to availability.”
