Rata Community Choir
This group will work towards a couple of very informal concerts a year (for family and friends rather than open to the public). We work on a wide range of 2, 3 and 4 part arrangements ranging from early Christmas carols to more contemporary, popular arrangements. The aim is still to have a lot of fun singing with like-minded adults but to work on developing skills as a group, listening to other parts while singing your own, working on dynamics and tone etc. The emphasis is less on technique and more on singing as a group.
You don’t have to be an experienced singer to join and some people come straight to this group without doing the Singcognito intro group. If you aren’t sure, just get in touch and we’ll work it out with you.

In my teaching…
- I aim to provide a heart-centred teaching service which is inclusive of all ages, abilities and musical styles. The basics of efficient and healthy voice use are universal.
- I am passionate about the biology and function of voice; and I endeavour to find the right method of delivering information relevant to vocal function and physiology to each learner.
- It is my job to help students be better musicians as well as better singers. I aim to choose repertoire with which the singer will engage, but which will also further their vocal and musical development. I accompany students on the piano in lessons and (where appropriate) in performance.
- Good singing is wholly connected with body, mind and spirit. Acknowledging this connection (within carefully defined ethical boundaries) is an important part of my practice.
