Welcome to Professional-Level Teen Acting for Stage and Screen, curated by Miranda Harcourt and taught by leading industry professionals.
Hi there! I am Miranda Harcourt, I lead a team of highly skilled tutors, and together we run this Professional-level Teen Acting course. I am thrilled at our success and at the family of teen actors we have created over the short history of Rātā Studios. We have had many students cast in TV shows, films, and on the professional stage. Rātā Studios is situated right in the heart of Wellington’s film industry as it’s location and reputation attracts many opportunities for our students.
Our classes are formally recognised as a “feeder” for Toi Whakaari — NZ Drama School and for The Actors’ Program in Auckland. Successful young actors fly in from all over New Zealand to attend one of our Saturday classes, work with New Zealand’s best tutors, and with a young company of committed, supportive teens.
Rātā Studios brings in only top-flight tutors operating at the top of their field. Our tutors are prominent actors, directors, and casting directors who show their recent work and share their expertise. We connect via Zoom with actors and directors all over NZ, and our teens interview them about their work and advice. Our programme is a unique blend of professional exposure and the safety of a class environment. It is exciting for us to know that we are kick-starting the careers of the next generation of actors and directors in NZ, connecting students with agents and lining up opportunities. NB: In Term 3, we have an exciting opportunity to focus on creating films and filmic vignettes. At the end of term, we can enter the finished products into a friendly film Competition with BOPAS – The Bay of Plenty Actors Studio. The work will be judged by Actress Miriama McDowell. The top films will be seen by casting directors in the film industry, making it a fantastic showcase of our acting talent!
