Piano Lessons – Anna Prasannan
About Anna Prasannan
Anna completed her BMUS degree in Flute in 2012 at the New Zealand School of Music, Victoria University Wellington studying with several teachers from NZSO and orchestra Wellington. In 2017 she returned to studies graduating with PGDIP in Flute Performance in 2018. For her postgraduate diploma Anna took flute and piccolo lessons with Bridget Douglas, the principal flute player in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Anna is an active chamber musician in Wellington in a Flute harp Duo and in a wind trio, whilst also playing in the Wellington Chamber Orchestra.
Anna is an experienced fulltime music teacher, who enjoys teaching all ages and abilities, from preschool to adult. She teaches over 35 students on Piano, Flute and Recorder and has been teaching since 2015. Anna teaches beginner to intermediate level classical piano ( up to grade 5 approx) and beginner to advanced level flute. ( Grade 8 +) Anna is happy to put students through Trinity College exams if they wish, but there is no obligation to do exams. All of Anna’s exam students or NCEA music students have received excellent results.
Anna’s main goal as a music teacher is to help students develop a love and passion for playing music. She has a very patient and encouraging teaching style and her lessons are relaxed but also structured. Anna loves students to leave the lesson feeling positive and confident in themselves! Beginner Lessons will consist of working through a method book and theory book and doing some sightreading. Anna uses the Piano adventures method books which use a range of styles including classical, jazz and popular. After working through the method books students can start looking at exam repertoire which also have an excellent range of styles at each level, or choose their own repertoire if they wish.
Highly recommend Anna – my daughter has just started piano lessons with her this year and absolutely cannot wait to get there each week. So great to see how enthusiastic and chirpy she is after each lesson. Anna has a lovely manner with her.
Anna is a wonderful, friendly teacher who has started teaching our daughter piano. She is enthusiastic and this keeps our daughter keen and interested in her lessons and practicing. Highly recommend Anna.
