Film Making Holiday Course for Teens (Ages 13-18)
Dive into the world of filmmaking with our immersive Holiday Course designed for aspiring teen filmmakers!
Over the course of a week, you’ll learn the art of crafting filming and editing dynamic combat scenes with stunt performers, build a dystopian world, and get a taster of the magic of green screen technology plus get a guided tour of Wētā workshops!
Under the guidance of top industry professionals , you’ll bring your cinematic visions to life.
This course covers:
- Filming Action Combat Scenes: Work alongside professional stunt & Performance capture Artist Allan Henry to choreograph to film intense, realistic fight sequences with the students on the Stunt performance course running along side this one.
- World creating : Learn the techniques to create futuristic or post-apocalyptic settings that captivate and intrigue. From miniature model making to digital know-how.
- Green Screen Techniques: Then using green screen technology, set up your world to come to life on the screen.
- Editing & Sound Foley: Then learn how to edit your scene and create the immersive soundscapes for make your story pop!
On the Thursday afternoon we join the Filmmaking students on a private Wētā Workshop Experience tour on Park Road! There, an experienced Wētā Workshop crew member will take you on a guided journey through the practical effects crafted for The Lord of the Rings, King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia, Avatar, and much more! This also includes a private screening of Wētā’s exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary.
By the end of the course, you’ll have created your own dynamic short scene, showcasing your newfound skills in action filmmaking. Whether you dream of becoming a director, editor, or special effects artist, this course is your first step into the exciting world of cinema!
About Therese Eberhard
Therese has over 25 years experience painting finishes for Film props and sets. Her film credits include – Avatar: The way of water, The Lord of the Rings: The rings of power, Mortal Engines, Mulan, The Hobbit, The ghost in the Shell and many more.
She loves guiding the imaginations of young story tellers to help bring their ideas to life. She’s excited to work with our teens in this thrilling week long intensive to pass on the skills and craft secrets to build some worlds for the screen!
About Allan Henry
Allan Henry is a multitalented actor, stuntman, motion capture performer and a self-proclaimed goofball dad.
He is best known for his role as The Bear, on Cocaine Bear directed by Elizabeth Banks, starring Keri Russell and Ray Liotta, Ru in Robyn Malcolm’s breakout hit series, After the Party, Our Flag Means Death S2, and Mean Mums.
Allan is a sought-after stunt performer and actor with his work including The Hobbit Films, Mulan, Avatar and Mortal engines.
He’s looking forward to working with teens to push them to their limits and help the Film Making students to film and sell dynamic combat scenes to feel empowered by.
