Piano Lessons – Otis Prescott-Mason
About Otis Prescott-Mason
Otis is a Wellington based pianist and teacher who is currently studying classical performance piano at Victoria University under the tutelage of Dr. Jian Liu and Emma Sayers. Otis began his studies at the age of 5 and has since won multiple solo and chamber music competitions. Otis is active in the Wellington area as a chamber musician, having played in many ensembles since 2017, and also as an accompanist for singers, violinists, and other instrumentalists.
Otis has a thorough understanding of musical theory, and lessons with him will include learning about the theoretical principles behind music which will help to add depth and understanding to the music that his students choose to play. He will also teach students to be fluent sight readers as this is an invaluable pianistic skill.
Though Otis specialises in the study and performance of classical music, one of his priorities is enjoyment of the instrument. Otis will work with each student individually to find music that will help the student enjoy playing the piano as well as music that will help them to progress both technically and musically.
