Accents for Actors

Course Outline:

How to be audition-ready with General American and RP accents.

This 6 week course gets you audition-ready in the accents most often requested by casting directors looking to fill roles for TV and film: General American and English (Modern RP).

We will cover the changes you need to make to how you usually speak, in order to sound convincing for American and English productions. We will look at oral posture, and the different rhythms and intonations of these two accents. You will learn key sounds and phrases that will help you switch into the accent at any time.

Practicing with scripts from up to the minute films and TV shows in a simulated audition context ensures that you are ready for your next audition.

We keep the class small, so that we can also cover some basic voice exercises, and explore your vocality so that you can bring your best vocal game to your work, and … we will definitely have fun too.
